$10,000 Donation Presented to Mason County 4H & Jr Ag Show Assoc.
Release Date: December 7, 2017
Menard Electric Cooperative Board President Jay Frye and General Manager Alisha Anker (both at left in photo) presented a $10,000 donation to representatives of the Mason County 4-H and Jr Agriculture Show Association on December 6 during the association’s regular monthly meeting. The association was chosen as this year’s recipient of CoBank’s Sharing Success program, which matches a donation made by Menard Electric to an organization chosen by the co-op’s Board of Directors each year. Menard Electric is a member of CoBank, a cooperative lending facility.
The donated funds will be used to add lighting to the Mason County Fairgrounds equestrian show ring, which will allow for shows to be held in the evenings through the year for its exhibitors, aged 8-18.
The fairgrounds have been open more than 70 years and attract hundreds of members from the local community annually.
“Menard Electric is happy to be able to partner with CoBank to provide the funds. Although we don’t serve the fairgrounds with electricity, we know many of our members in Mason County are involved in the 4H and Junior Agriculture Association exhibitions or utilize the fairgrounds in other ways,” says General Manager Alisha Anker.
Operations and engineering personnel at the cooperative have also pledged to donate their own time to help the fairgrounds complete the project and the cooperative will donate the use of its equipment. “Commitment to Community is one of Menard Electric’s founding principles, but more than that, it is something our employees strive to live out, and this project is just one example of that,” says Anker.
